Recycled newspapers, environmentally friendly fragrances, recyclable ferrules and biodegradable erasers are used to manufacture Smencils. Even Smencil packaging is environmentally friendly using recylable plasic. Smencil is committed to the responsibility of sustaining our environment. Smencils also give teachers an excellent opportunity to teach the benefits of recycling.How Smencils Are Made Sheets of newspaper are tightly rolled around the #2 graphite writing cores until pencils of typical thickness are formed. The rolled pencils are then hardened allowing them to be sharpened just like wood pencils. You can even see the layers caused by the newsprint when you sharpen them. Newspaper is an absorbent material. The pencils are soaked with gourmet liquid scents (made by an award winning fragrance company) which absorb into the layers of newspaper. Once they've dried, the erasers are applied along with the stickers identifying which scent was infused into each Smencil. Then, each Smencil is put into its own Freshness Tube. Scents are guaranteed to last for at least 2 years, in or out of the tubes.All the materials used to make Smencils are completely safe for adults and children.
